We were honored to host the last Nebraska FFA District 12 CDE of the year. With almost 400 FFA members from 20 chapters competing in 6 events it was a busy and productive day. Our members worked hard to make this a successful event for all. A huge thank you to Kimball Public Schools for opening up the school for our use! Our alumni and supporters are an important part of this event as well. Thank you to Kimball NE FFA Alumni, and many local producers for helping us put on a great livestock contest. We are blessed to have a supportive community!

REMINDER: Wednesday March 1, 2023 will be a full regular day of instruction for Mary Lynch Elementary students. PreK will have normal sessions and ELITE will operate from 3:30-6:00 PM. Junior/Senior High School students will have a remote learning day as we are hosting an FFA competition at the facility.

LonghornPower Lift-A-Thon Kicked off today. All 8-12th grade athletes will be taking part in our 1st annual Lift-A-Thon. It is a fundraiser and hopefully a strength training promotion for our athletic department. All proceeds will go to help develop our athletic training programs. This message is for families of 7th-12th grade students. As you may have heard, due to the excessive number of snow days this year, we are making up lost hours by adding back Wednesday afternoons as well as March 1st and March 21st to the school calendar. The alternative was to extend the school year further into summer. Beginning March 8th, Wednesdays will be full days instead of 1:30 pm releases. In order for staff to continue to have an opportunity for professional development/planning, there will be no Longhorn Time after school on Wednesdays. On March 1st, the Kimball Jr/Sr High School will be hosting an FFA CDE event. Several classrooms in our building will be utilized for the event and half of our teachers will also be helping. This will be a remote learning day for students not involved in the event. The core teachers will be assigning work for students to do at home. This work will be due by 4:00 pm that day. Teachers will give students instructions for the assignment as well as their expectation for submission. If the work is not submitted by 4:00 pm, students will be counted absent for the respective class. Students who are participating in the FFA event will be exempt from the assignments and their absence will be excused as school business. Core teachers will be available via Zoom throughout the day to offer assistance when students need help. They will share the Zoom link for their class with students prior to March 1st. On March 21st, the Kimball Jr/Sr High School will be hosting the SPVA Music competition. All staff will be involved in helping with this event. Again, students will be given an assignment from their core classes to work on from home. This assignment needs to be submitted by 4:00 pm that day. If it is not, students will be counted absent from the respective class. Music students who participate in the competition are exempt from the assignments and will be marked as excused due to school business. Teachers will not be available via Zoom, but will be able check their email throughout the day to answer questions. Please let the office know if you do not have Internet access available at home. The school has hot spots available for checkout prior to the 1st and 21st.
