🎉 WELCOME TO THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR AT THE JR/SR HIGH SCHOOL! 🎉

🎧 NEW THIS YEAR: THE STUDENT HANDBOOK PODCASTS
Let’s be honest… No one really wants to read an 80-page handbook. And as much fun as it is talking about dress code, tardies, and lunch procedures, you don’t come to Open House hoping to hear a one-hour lecture on school policy.

So this year, we’re trying something new (and way more fun): We’ve created a podcast series that breaks down all the important stuff into short, engaging episodes. Each one runs between 7–20 minutes, and you can listen at your convenience—on the couch, in the car, or while folding laundry.

🔘To listen to the podcasts, visit our website at www.kpslonghorns.org.
From the homepage:
Hover over the "More" menu at the top.

Then hover over "Jr/Sr High School."

Next, click the arrow next to "Jr/Sr High School Handbook."

Select "Jr/Sr High Handbook Podcasts."

There, you’ll find links to seven short podcasts covering topics from the Jr/Sr Student-Parent Handbook and one podcast about the Extracurricular Activities Handbook.

Just click on a topic and hit play—it’s that easy!

As an alternative, you can access the podcasts using the QR Code in the attachment below.

📝 Reminder:
Parents will still acknowledge they’ve read the handbook as part of back-to-school paperwork. Listening to the podcasts counts! And it gives you a much clearer picture of our expectations, routines, and how we support your kids to have their best year ever. Additional policies such as State and Federal Programs, the Drug and Alcohol Policy, etc. are not covered on the podcasts but are available for reference at the end of the handbook.

We can't wait to welcome all of you—especially our newest Longhorns—at the Open House on August 14th. Bring your questions, your student, and your best first-day-of-school energy.

Don’t forget to get your forms completed by the 14th so your student can receive their chromebook at the Open House!

Let’s make it a great year!!

The High School volleyball team has had a busy couple of weeks. We played 5 games in Cozad. The varsity and JV played 6 games in Ord. We also floated the river in tubes and tanks for a little extra fun and time together as a team. We ended our games with a scrimmage against Morrill. We fell short on the fifth set, but showed great improvement and effort. 🏐 We had some fun playing outdoor volleyball, eating popsicles, and getting wet to finish up our open gyms. 💦 We cannot wait to pull it all together this season! Thank you to the Red and White fundraiser for making these camps possible for these athletes.

A special shoutout goes to:

We are SO proud of the way this team continues to show up, put in the work, and support one another every step of the way. The bond, the grit, and the determination are undeniable—and we can’t wait to see where this season takes them! 📣

Two days of volleyball camp = ✅ Fun, hard work, big growth! These girls brought the hustle, learned lots, and made sure to have a blast while doing it! Coach Morgan even gave them a few special shoutouts for their focus, effort, and improvements! 👏🏐💪 Day 1: lots of fundamental drills with passing, setting, hitting, and serving with an emphasis on control and consistency, learning defensive strategies, and threw in some fun games for skill building and conditioning. Day 2: practice, practice, and more practice with those fundamental skills, team-building opportunities with camp coaches, some coordinating dances, and an afternoon of pool-play putting those skills to use in game like scenarios! So proud of the way they’re showing up and putting in the work—future’s looking bright! 🌟🏐❤️ A BIG thank you to the Red and White for making this possible! We greatly appreciate your support and help in sending our girls to camp!
